What is BCDR?
Business continuity (BC) and Disaster recovery (DR) refers to an organization’s ability to recover from a disaster or any unexpected calamity and resume operations. A BCDR Plan determines how a recovery will be accomplished. Azure Site Recovery (ASR) is a Microsoft’s DRaaS (Disaster Recovery as a Service) system which provides complete BCDR solution.

Why Do You Need a BCDR Plan?
A natural disaster such as thunderstorms, cyclone or floods can strike anytime and cost your businesses millions of dollars. Business Continuity Planning (BCP) is the creation of a strategy through the recognition of such kind of threats and risks facing a company, with an eye to ensuring that personnel and assets are protected and able to function in the event of a disaster. The primary objective of a business continuity plan is to maximize responsiveness, ease confusion and help ensure logical decisions are made during a crisis.
How will it Benefit you?
As an organization, it is best to devise a BCDR strategy that keeps your data safe, keep your apps and workloads running in case of any unplanned outages.
-
Replicate failover and multiple workloads from a single location in the Azure Portal. Azure can manage and orchestrate the whole process without affecting production environments.
-
No secondary data center is required. Workloads can be replicated to Azure. Replicated data is then stored in Azure Storage. In an event of downtime or outage, Azure VMs are created with the same data. This eliminates the need of a secondary site and the costs that come along with it.
-
ASR is an excellent BCDR tool which has superior migration capabilities. It can help migrate not only on-premises workloads but also AWS VMs and Azure VMs from other regions.
Azure is the robust leader in the BCDR solutions due to its cost-effectiveness, ease of use and support for an extensive list of workloads. It is accessible from anywhere, anytime and simultaneously offers wide global infrastructure to support your organization across the globe.
